I teach minor English in a high school in Gainesville, Florida. I also teach middle school and high school math and science in the public schools and I have taught a wide range of subjects in all four grades.

One of the best parts about teaching minor English is that it’s a really broad subject. You get to teach students of all ages, from 9th-graders and 10th-graders to adults. You can also teach them about things like culture and history, politics, literature, and even current events. The downside of teaching minor English is that you have to be very careful about assigning homework.

You have to be really careful when assigning homework for grades 9-10 in the public schools. If you don’t do your homework, your students will find out and you will get a failing grade. This is just one of the many things that I think are wrong with the public school system. If you don’t get your kids to do their homework, they will likely find out about it, and you will end up failing the first time you try to teach them.

So I was talking with a teacher a couple of weeks ago, and she told me that every teacher has some sort of method for marking homework. She tells all her students to just write down what they have to do, and if they fail, she will mark them down as “uncompleted”, or unread.

This is like the teacher telling all her students to write down what they have to do in their notebooks, then failing to keep the notebooks filled out. Except that it’s not the one thing that makes people fail. It’s the thing that makes people succeed.

For those of you who have students that are failing, this can help you identify your own students. It’s a simple but effective way to get students to become a little more self-aware. There’s nothing quite like a failing grade.

Its usually the same thing. A student writes down a list of what they have to do today that is so confusing that they end up failing. Theres nothing wrong with this, but its not the thing that makes them fail. Its the thing that makes them succeed. To make things more interesting, here is a list of three things that are not things.

If you find yourself with a list of things you have to do today, you should ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?” Is it because someone told you to? Was it because you wanted to? Is it because you wanted to be remembered by someone? If that is the case, you should then make sure you make it as clear as possible that you are doing it for the right reasons. And then you should take a minute to try to figure out WHY you are doing this.

This is very similar to why we ask questions about why we do things, but it goes deeper. While it may be necessary to fill out a list of things you have to do today, it is also important to also consider WHY you are doing the things you are doing.
